More Shops on the Way, Popular Bookstore to Stay

NBC Travel Editor and Emmy award-winning writer Peter Greenberg already touts General Mitchell International Airport as one of his favorite layover locales. Soon, the Mitchell stopover experience will get even better.

A large-scale renovation, scheduled to begin after the first of the year, will overhaul the decor of the concession mall and add many new retailers, including Brooks Brothers and a PGA Tour shop. A Net Connect Internet Kiosk, where travelers can gain Internet access, also is part of the new concept. And don't fret...Mitchell's (and Greenberg's) beloved Renaissance Books, known as one of the country's most unusual airport bookstores, along with Milwaukee's own Harley-Davidson, will remain open during and after the nine- to 10-month construction period. So...get ready, set, shop!
