MKE Celebrates Concourse E Completion with "Lucky Passenger Day"

Lady Luck landed at MKE on April 26, as three lucky passengers arriving on AirTran, Continental Express and Northwest Airlines, were each awarded a pair of roundtrip airline tickets. One of the randomly chosen winners, Tracy Twardowski of Antioch, Ill., says that she chooses to use MKE because "it's closer to home and less hassle than O'Hare (ORD)."

The festivities marked the $2.7 million renovation of Concourse E, which created a fourth lane in the security checkpoint, added a children’s play area and an ADA-compliant family restroom, and created office space for TSA and the airlines. Concourse E has 10 gates and serves two million passengers annually.

“Are We There Yet?”    For parents, those four little words can signal the beginning of a long trip. But traveling with your child doesn’t have to be an arduous and exhausting experience – for either you or them. Consider these easy tips to a more enjoyable travel time:

Soothing Sounds
Load an iPod with a custom mix of your child’s favorite music, including the one song that helps them doze off at night! Also, download kids' favorite books-on-tape, so they can listen while they read. Remember to pack kid-safe headphones.

Comforts of Home
Bring some comfort items from home, such as their own blanket and pillow. Or, for extra long or nighttime flights, pack their PJs in a carry-on bag and put them on right before boarding the flight.

Travel Treats
Pack a special bag with a few small toys specifically bought for the trip. Stretch them out over the duration of the trip, keeping your little one busy with new items – and new incentives – to stay on the best possible behavior.
