 | | MKE Implements Green Initiatives MKE is going green with the implementation of several new environmentally-conscious building and transportation strategies, including: • MKE has replaced parking shuttles with vehicles that run on CNG (natural gas). The airport also has opened up, in partnership with a private operator, a CNG filling station that serves not only airport shuttle vehicles, but is also available to other companies that operate CNG fleets. • To limit aircraft fuel consumption, MKE is electrifying all of its jetbridges to ensure the aircraft do not have to run their engines to heat and cool. Additionally, MKE has initiated an intensive glycol recovery effort so that aircraft deicing fluid does not enter the waterways. • MKE architects and engineers are designing new construction in accordance to LEED standards.
