MKE Goes Smoke-Free
Mitchell International joins a growing list of airports nationwide that are now smoke-free. Smoking is no longer permitted inside airport buildings or within 30 feet of airport entrance doors. Outdoor smoking-permitted areas are on the sidewalk on the WEST side of the Ticketing drive (which is the EAST side of the Baggage Claim lobby) and near the flagpole north of the Baggage Claim building.
MKE Implements Green Initiatives
MKE is going green with the implementation of several new environmentally-conscious building and transportation strategies, including:
• MKE has replaced parking shuttles with vehicles that run on CNG (natural gas). The airport also has opened up, in partnership with a private operator, a CNG filling station that serves not only airport shuttle vehicles, but is also available to other companies that operate CNG fleets.
• To limit aircraft fuel consumption, MKE is electrifying all of its jetbridges to ensure the aircraft do not have to run their engines to heat and cool. Additionally, MKE has initiated an intensive glycol recovery effort so that aircraft deicing fluid does not enter the waterways.
• MKE architects and engineers are designing new construction in accordance to LEED standards.

Pack a Healthy Snack
Consider bringing fresh fruit or carrot and celery sticks for your mid-flight snack. These natural and healthy foods provide nutrients to help you fight fatigue and feel refreshed once you’ve landed.
Wash Your Hands Frequently
Not only can a cold ruin a trip, but it can provide an uncomfortable flight back home. Avoid cold-causing germs by washing your hands frequently and pack hand-sanitizer for the times you can’t get to a sink.
Avoid Jet Lag
In addition to drinking plenty of fluids, dressing comfortably and sleeping on the flight will help you feel more refreshed once you land. Help reset your internal clock by resetting your watch to the time of your new destination once you board. If it is light out when you land, spend time outdoors; if it is night, try to sleep until morning.
