MKE’s average airfares among the lowest in the nation

MKE’s average airfares rank among the lowest of the top 100 airports in the country, according to the Department of Transportation. Based on third quarter 2011 average domestic fares (latest available), MKE fares were $86 less than those from O’Hare. Check out the entire list of 100 airports and average fares.

Pizzeria Piccola opens in Concourse C – now that’s amore!

MKE is serving up delicious, authentic Neapolitan-style pizza from Pizzeria Piccola in Concourse C.  Passengers can enjoy a true taste of Milwaukee with these straight-from-the-fired-oven Italian pizza pies. And don’t forget: even if you’re not flying out of Concourse C, your boarding pass is your ticket to enjoying any of the great dining options in any concourse!

New Delta app helps you fly even smarter

This just in from Delta: you can now check in for international flights from your smartphone! And that’s not all. The airline’s Fly Delta app allows you to get your eBoarding pass, pay for your bags, change your seat, check alerts and more! Free to download and free to use in-flight, this app gets the MKE stamp of approval.

Going green with GORiteway

Have you seen the new green GO Riteway shuttles around MKE? Riteway Bus Service acquired GO Airport Connection to provide service connecting MKE to all of southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. The transportation company’s 24/7 door-to-door service will pick you up or drop you off at your home, hotel or work. And the look isn’t all that’s green. The new fleet was recently recognized as a Clean Energy Champion by Wisconsin Clean Cities for promoting cleaner air through alternative fuel use. Learn more about the new, green fleet.

Record ridership on Amtrak’s Hiawatha line

More than 800,000 passengers rode Amtrak’s popular Hiawatha line in 2011, setting a new record! The Department of Transportation reported a 4 percent increase compared to 2010. The line carries travelers between downtown Milwaukee and downtown Chicago, making a convenient stop at MKE.

Air Force One lands at MKE
