NORWEGIAN AIR LAUNCHES WINTER CHARTER SEASON AT MKE

MKE’s newest airline offers six nonstop destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean

 

MILWAUKEE (December 23, 2016) – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele has announced that the newest airline at MKE, Norwegian Air, in conjunction with Funjet Vacations and Apple Vacations, launched its winter flights to Mexico and the Caribbean this morning.  Funjet Vacations is a brand of The Mark Travel Corporation, based in Milwaukee.

VOLARIS ANNOUNCED AS NEWEST INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE AT MKE

Mexican-based carrier will begin nonstop service to Guadalajara in March

 

MILWAUKEE (December 12, 2016) – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele proudly announced today that Volaris will begin international flights from MKE to Guadalajara, Mexico in March.  With the announcement, Volaris becomes the first Mexican carrier to offer year-round scheduled service from MKE.

 AUTUMN TRAVEL CONTINUES GROWTH AT GENERAL MITCHELL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Nearly 25,000 More Passengers Flew This October

 

MILWAUKEE (December 8, 2016) – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced today that steady growth at Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) continued in October as the airport saw 4.42% more passengers in October 2016 over 2015.

FRONTIER AIRLINES LAUNCHES NEW NONSTOP TO PHOENIX

More passengers choose MKE; Frontier responds to increased demand

 

MILWAUKEE (December 7, 2016) – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced the launch of new Frontier Airlines nonstop service to Phoenix.  Passengers on today’s inaugural flight enjoyed a ribbon-cutting celebration in the gate area and sunshine-themed cookies provided by Mitchell Airport (MKE).

GENERAL MITCHELL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SEES CONTINUED GROWTH IN SEPTEMBER

MILWAUKEE (November 15, 2016) – Expanded airline offerings are paying dividends as Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport saw an increase of 7.95% in the number of passengers passing through its gates in September.

DELTA EXPANDS MKE PRESENCE WITH NEW NONSTOP TO SEATTLE

MILWAUKEE (November 4, 2016) – Delta Air Lines will launch a new daily nonstop flight between Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport beginning March 9, 2017.

SUMMER TRAVEL UP AT GENERAL MITCHELL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

MILWAUKEE (October 21, 2016) – Summer proved to be a busy travel time for Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport, with more than 1.8 million passengers using the airport in the months of June, July and August. MKE’s 2016 summer travel season saw an increase of 31,790 passengers, or 1.78%, over the same time period in 2015.

MKE PASSENGER TRAFFIC RISES FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE MONTH

MILWAUKEE (September 1, 2016) - More passengers are using Mitchell Airport for their summer travel this year.  July passengers totaled 614,755, an increase of 0.73% from the 610,271 total that was recorded in July of 2015.  Passenger traffic increases have been recorded in six out of the first seven months of 2016.  July marks the third consecutive month of growth.

 MKE RECEIVES NINTH CONSECUTIVE PERFECT FAA INSPECTION

MILWAUKEE (August 26, 2016) - The Federal Aviation Administration has presented Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) with a perfect score on its annual certification inspection. It is the ninth consecutive year MKE has received an inspection with zero discrepancies noted by inspectors.

MORE PASSENGERS ARE CHOOSING MKE FOR THEIR SUMMER TRAVEL

MILWAUKEE (August 26, 2016) - Passenger traffic rose more than three percent at General Mitchell International Airport in June.  June passengers totaled 611,001, an increase of 3.4% from the 591,145 total that was recorded in June of 2015. Southwest Airlines launched Saturday service to San Diego in June, which increased to daily service earlier this month. Frontier Airlines also launched a new nonstop flight to Philadelphia in June. Passenger traffic for the first half of 2016 is up 3.2% from the same period last year.

DELTA DOUBLES CAPACITY ON MILWAUKEE-BOSTON NONSTOP ROUTE

MILWAUKEE (August 15, 2016) - Citing growing demand for business travel between Milwaukee and Boston, Delta Air Lines today announced that it will increase flights on its existing nonstop service between Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) and Boston Logan International Airport.

 FRONTIER ADDS NONSTOP SEASONAL FLIGHTS FROM MKE TO PHOENIX

MILWAUKEE (August 10, 2016) - Frontier Airlines will launch new seasonal nonstop service from MKE to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on December 7, 2016.  THe new service will be operated with full-size Airbus A319 aicraft, featuring both standard and stretch seating.

MKE INSTALLS SERVICE ANIMAL RELIEF AREA IN MAIN TERMINAL

MILWAUKEE (August 8, 2016) - Mitchell Airport has installed an indoor Service Animal Relief Area.  Located in a separate area adjacent to the Family Restroom in the Concession Mall, the area contains K9Grass, a soft green synthetic grass designed specifically for dogs, that sits atop an under-grass flushing system that moves water and cleaning solution across a sloped floor.

SOUTHWEST LAUNCHES NEW DAILY NONSTOP SERVICE TO SAN DIEGO

MILWAUKEE (August 7, 2016) - Southwest Airlines launched its new daily nonstop service from MKE to San Diego.  The new service, which will operate year-round, replaces Southwest's existing Saturday-only service.  With this addition, Southwest no flies to 21 destinations nonstop from Milwaukee.

ENROLL IN TSA Pre✓® AT MKE FOR A LIMITED TIME

MILWAUKEE (July 12, 2016) - Passengers looking to speed their way through airport security have a unique opportunity to enroll in the TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program at Mitchell Airport.  From August 8 through August 26, MKE will host a TSA Pre✓® Mobile Enrollment Center near Baggage Claim #4.

PASSENGER COUNTS INCREASE AT MKE DURING MAY

MILWAUKEE (July 5, 2016) - The number of passengers choosing Milwaukee's MKE airport increased nearly three percent in May. Much of the increase was due to new flights from Frontier Airlines, which added nonstop service from Milwaukee to Atlanta and Daals/Fort Worth in April.

MILWAUKEE (June 28, 2016) - Travelers choosing MKE have a new spot to enjoy Wisconsin beer before boarding their flights!  The new Leinie Lodge features self-serve beer taps that customers can use to sample the latest brews from Leinenkugel, a beer brewer based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

 BAGGAGE CLAIM RECEIVES LEED CERTIFICATION

Energy-efficient removel, completed last year, recognized as a leader in green building

MILWAUKEE (June 7, 2016) – Mitchell Airport's Baggage Claim Renovation Project has received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.  The project becomes the first building in Milwaukee County government to receive this designation.

FRONTIER GOES NONSTOP TO PHILADELPHIA

More passengers choose MKE; Frontier responds to increased demand

MILWAUKEE (June 2, 2016) – Mitchell Airport helped Frontier Airlines kick off its new nonstop service from MKE to Philadelphia, with advertised fares as low as $69 each way.  So far in 2016, passenger traffic is up 3/3% compared to the same period in 2015.

MARCH PASSENGER NUMBERS INCREASE FOUR PERCENT

MKE records seventh consecutive month of passenger increases

FRONTIER AIRLINES LAUNCHES NEW ROUTES TO ATLANTA AND DALLAS

Frontier and local officials cut ribbon on first departure to Atlanta

MILWAUKEE (April 15, 2016) – Frontier Airlines is celebrating the launch of new nonstop routes from Milwaukee to Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth.  Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele joined Frontier officials to launch new nonstop service from MKE to Atlanta. Frontier also began new nonstop service from Milwaukee to Dallas-Fort Worth.  On June 2, Frontier will start another new nonstop to Philadelphia.

INMOTION ENTERTAINMENT NOW OPEN AT MITCHELL AIRPORT

Travelers now have access to the latest electronics gear on Concourses C and D

MILWAUKEE (March 22, 2016) – Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is now offering a new retail option for travelers on the go. InMotion Entertainment, the largest U.S. airport retailer of entertainment and electronics, is now open on Concourses C and D. The stores are the first in Wisconsin.

 MITCHELL AIRPORT PASSENGERS INCREASE NEARLY 10% IN FEBRUARY

JANUARY PASSENGER TRAFFIC INCREASES AT MITCHELL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

MILWAUKEE (March 7, 2016) – Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) announced today that passenger traffic grew by 6.12% in January 2016 when compared to the previous year. The airport saw 493,180 passengers travel through its gates during the month.

 MILWAUKEE (February 11, 2016) – Passengers looking to speed their way through airport security have a unique opportunity to enroll in the TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program at Mitchell Airport. From March 1-4 and March 7-11, MKE will host a temporary TSA Pre✓® Enrollment Center behind the House of Harley-Davidson store in the Concession Mall.
